Cwm Bychan is a valley rising northwards from Aberglaslyn, and was once used for transporting copper ore from the mine entrance high up in the valley. Some of the winding gear still remains mostly near the mine entrance - more images can be seen in the 'Industrial Heritage' gallery. There are scenic delights to be found as well - woodland, waterfalls and views of mountains and moorland. The Sygun copper mine, long disused, can now been visited through the museum entrance near Llyn Dinas.

Lakes Llyn Dinas and Llyn Gwynant are close by, to found on the road from Beddgelert to Capel Curig.
